Fossil fuels BMW global licensing agreement

In major brand news, Fossil Group has signed a global licensing agreement with Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW) for the design, development and distribution of BMW-branded watches and smartwatches through 2023.

The first collection will be available in 2019.

Fossil Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kosta Kartsotis said: “BMW is one of the most iconic brands in the world. We look forward to bringing our watch design expertise and smartwatch capabilities to BMW enthusiasts around the world.”

The BMW Group agreement is the first automotive brand license for Fossil Group. New accessories will be introduced in 2019 and sold globally in over 4,000 BMW retail channels, as well as through key retailers in Fossil Group’s global network.

The Fossil Group portfolio includes fashion watches, jewellery, handbags, small leathergoods and wearables. Its owned brands include Fossil, Michele, Misfit, Relic, Skagen and Zodiac. Licensed brands are Armani Exchange, Chaps, Diesel, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Kate Spade New York, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Puma and Tory Burch.

BMW, ‘the ultimate driving machine’, will now find a new expression in watches and smartwatches.
