Finavia partners with Espresso House to open new café at Helsinki Airport

FINLAND. An 89-seat Espresso House café has opened at Helsinki Airport, offering eat-in and takeaway options.

The café, from a well-known chain in Finland and the first of its kind at the airport, is in T2, Schengen airside, close to Gate 29. It has seating inside and on a terrace, covering a total of almost 220sq m.

The new Espresso House, now one of 43 in Finland, is on the second floor in Terminal 2.

The new venue’s selection includes a wide variety of specialty coffees roasted in the chain’s own roastery, as well as savoury and sweet pastries made by its own bakery. For the bigger appetite, the extensive menu also includes salads and pies.

Finavia Corporation Commercial Manager Satu Orismaa told The Moodie Davitt Report: “The space is on the second floor with great visibility to the terminal. Branded coffee and bakery products supplement nicely the offering at this area of the airport.

“There is already a mix of iconic and bespoke F&B offerings with strong sense of place, but also major international brands.’’

She added: “The planning process meant a great effort of co-operation with Espresso House, combining both the airport knowledge from Finavia’s side and brand and concept from the operator.’’

The café seats 63 inside, with a further 26 seats on a 34sq m outside terrace.

Espresso House Finland Managing Director Anssi Thureson said: “We are delighted for this opportunity to open our newest concept coffee shop in the heart of Helsinki Airport.

“Our mission is to offer world class coffee experiences to world class guests. Cooperation with Finavia has been very professional from the start, and we are very happy to now serve our travelling guests.’’

This month also sees the opening of another two units in the West Wing of the non-Schengen terminal at Helsinki Airport: Jamie’s Deli and Moomin Coffee, operated by SSP Finland Oy.

The latest opening takes the total to 43 Espresso House cafés in Finland.
