FAB Awards postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 crisis

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report has made the difficult decision not to hold the FAB 2020 Awards this year, due to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

“It is obviously impossible to hold a physical event (the Airport Food & Beverage Conference & Awards) and also many companies lack the resources now to submit entries,” said The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie.

“Also, with so many operations closed, and many staff and managers on furlough or out of work, it would be inappropriate to hold an awards ceremony. We look forward to 2021, and to hosting the event in an improved climate for business.”

The finest of the airport food & beverage sector will once again be recognised in 2021 (FAB 2019 winners pictured at the event hosted by Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport)

Submission fees are being returned to those who had entered.

The ceremony, which is the only awards event dedicated to the airport food & beverage business, represents the pinnacle of airport dining excellence. FAB 2020 had been due to take place in Istanbul, hosted by Istanbul Airport and Tum & Ictur. The Moodie Davitt Report looks forward to returning to Turkey for the event when the business climate allows.

The airport food & beverage sector will still feature heavily as part of the inaugural Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo, which will run as a ‘live’ event on 12-16 October before a 30-day showcase.

The Virtual Expo will feature a series of activities across the five days, including a Symposium (with leading speakers from the world of travel dining), category workshops and a new consumer research initiative.

F&B companies can also exhibit in the Hospitality/Food & Beverage Exhibition Hall, one of 12 dedicated zones for different segments within airport commercial services. Interested parties can contact Sarah Genest at Sarah@MoodieDavittReport.com
