Emirates Leisure Retail Australia awarded four Cairns Airport F&B concessions

AUSTRALIA. Cairns Airport has awarded four key food & beverage (F&B) concessions to Emirates Leisure Retail Australia (ELRA), after what the airport company described as a “highly contested tender process” that concluded at the end of 2017.

The four concessions – which include three in the international terminal and one in the domestic terminal – are Dubai-based ELRA’s first at Cairns Airport. They are scheduled to open in stages following the commencement of works in March 2018.

ELRA will bring its well-regarded Hudsons Coffee brand to the international terminal as well as a modern kitchen and bar concept. The concessionaire will also operate cafes in the international terminal arrivals hall and the check-in hall of the domestic terminal.

Cairns Airport CEO Norris Carter: “We’re delighted to welcome an operator of ELRA’s quality and standing to join us here at Cairns Airport”

Cairns Airport CEO Norris Carter said, “We’re delighted to welcome an operator of ELRA’s quality and standing to join us here at Cairns Airport. They impressed us with their award-winning F&B concepts. We look forward to them joining our existing F&B partners in bringing a wide range of offers to support our burgeoning passenger market.”

Carter added: “We thank all the operators that bid for these concessions. The standard of offers was extremely high across the board. The good news for all F&B operators is that we have another 12 F&B concessions coming up in the domestic terminal in the next few months – so watch this space.”

ELRA Managing Director Adam Summerville said, “We’re looking forward to coming to Cairns Airport, with their growing passenger base with a high propensity to spend, especially in the international terminal.

“The recent introduction of scheduled services by China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, as well as increased frequencies by Silk Air, Jin Air and Hong Kong Airlines means that there are terrific opportunities and we are delighted to be bringing our award-winning Hudsons Coffee brand as well as opening a bespoke modern bar,” Summerville added.
