Edie Ames named President of airport restaurant group Tastes on the Fly

US. Airport restaurant group Tastes on the Fly has appointed Edie Ames to the newly-created role of President.

Chicago native Ames, who has worked in the restaurant business for more than 30 years, was most recently Chief Executive of Los Angeles-based The Pie Hole.

Edie Ames  believes that “a hospitality concept should evolve as guests’ desires and expectations evolve”

Before that, she held a series of leadership roles including President of The Counter and Built Custom Burgers; Executive Vice President of Wolfgang Puck Catering; Chief Operating Officer of both Real Mex Restaurants and Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group; and President of Morton’s Restaurant Group.

In the early part of her career Ames spent 11 years at California Pizza Kitchen, a chain which has gone on to open more than 250 restaurants across 32 US states and ten other countries.

A board member of The Cheesecake Factory, Ames is also a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Tastes on the Fly CEO and Co-Founder Michael Levine said: “I am delighted to have Edie join our organisation to partner with me and our leadership team. As we continue to grow the company, she expands our resources to consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences at every one of our restaurants.”

Ames will preside over airport concepts such as Berkshire Farms Market, including this one at Boston Logan International

Ames said: “I am honoured to join such a culture driven team that is focused on the right things in the right order – starting with people. I look forward to partnering with our entire team to continue to provide a differentiating level of hospitality throughout each of our locations.”

She added: “True hospitality is as simple as consistent demonstration of genuine care for the guest and flawless execution of their expectations.”

Tastes on the Fly operates 20 brands in 25 locations at four major US airports: San Francisco International, Boston Logan International, John F. Kennedy International and Denver International. Next year, it will open its first international location in Vancouver, Canada.
