Duty Free World wins US Airways contract

US. Duty Free World has been awarded a contract to provide USAirways with its onboard programme, The Moodie Report can reveal.

The account was formerly handled by Jean-Marcel Rouff’s Inflight Sales Group.

The agreement is a major breakthrough for the ambitious Miami-based company, which numbers some of the industry’s most experienced inflight retail and supply executives among its management, including Mayra del Valle, Leylani Cardoso and Judi Bishop.

Mayra del Valle told The Moodie Report that Duty Free World (DFW) is continuing to expand its airline services in response to new airline programmes. She added: “It is so very important to offer total reliability and support in these difficult times”¦ not only with the product that you are selling, but with the support offered to the airline in terms of technology and motivational programmes.”

That message clearly scored with USAirways, whose vice-president of inflight services Sherry Hendry said: “We are thrilled to be associated with a company such as DFW, whose company culture is supportive and will provide our flight attendants with exciting, innovative products and marketing support. This type of enthusiasm will transfer to our important international customers and it is a win-win for all of us.”

The new programme will also include additional services such as liquor, headset sales and food for sale support.

Note: Duty Free World currently services carriers such as Mexicana, Avianca, and Tame. Both Mayra del Valle and Judi Bishop have extensive experience in the North American inflight business. Both have worked with United, Delta, Northwest and Continental as well as other North American carriers during their years at Inflight Duty Free Shop (IDFS). A major feature on the company will appear on TheMoodieReport.com soon.
