Duty Free Philippines to introduce new online shopping system

PHILIPPINES. Duty Free Philippines is to introduce an online shopping validation system from January 2020 designed to verify legitimate duty free shoppers.

Duty Free Philippines Chief Operating Officer Vicente Pelagio Angala confirmed the development to The Moodie Davitt Report this morning. He said that the system has been developed in partnership with the Bureau of Immigration.

Buoyed by a digitally savvy population, Duty Free Philippines has a strong ecommerce and social media operation

Angela and Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente signed an agreement to introduce the platform on Monday. The scheme will ensure that online shoppers have arrived in the country from abroad.

Customers must set up an account at dutyfreephilippines.ph, uploading proof of travel including passport and boarding pass details, Angela confirmed.
