Duty Free Global (DFG) is bringing “the spirit of Brazil” to IAADFS Summit of the Americas, where it is promoting Amázzoni, the number one selling Brazilian gin (DFG booth, Foyer 3).
Amázzoni – which is a strong supporter of Amazon rainforest preservation – is the first distillery to focus exclusively on gin in Brazil and the largest craft gin distillery in Latin America.
Amázzoni Gin founder Arturo Isola (pictured below) will be in attendance at the show to guide potential customers in a tasting through the range and tell what DFG describes as the “amazing story” of Amázzoni and its Amazon rainforest-sourced botanicals.
The Amázzoni gins to be featured at the show include:
- Amázzoni Gin (42%ABV), the first craft gin of Brazil. This London dry gin is distilled from pure cereal alcohol and natural spring water. It features five botanicals exclusively from Brazil and the Amazonian rainforest, plus five more classic gin botanicals.
- Amázzoni Rio Negro (51% ABV) includes eight botanicals from Brazil and the Amazonian Rainforest. The expression is the first Brazilian gin to gain a double Gold Medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
- Amázzoni Maniuara is the first ever Brazilian Old Tom flavoured and coloured gin and, with just 38%ABV, the lightest gin on the Brazilian market. It has a golden tone and is lemongrass flavoured.
Amázzoni is well-known for its work and funding in supporting the preservation of the Amazon rainforests through a partnership with the NGO Vem do Xingu.
NGO Vem do Xingu is an arrangement with a network of 27 canteens linked to 14 local associations from five indigenous lands and three Extractive Reserves. They cover a territory of about 9 million hectares of conserved Amazon forests.
Isola, who notes that the Amazon’s forests and waters make it the most important terrestrial biome in the world, said: “Amázzoni is also an ecologically sustainable and zero-waste project. This ethos applies to all the measures taken at our distillery to reduce our impact on the planet. We reuse all the waste generated by the distillation process and use water from natural springs inside our farm.”
The brand has also set up a social programme with its neighbouring municipality to train 12 women from the small town of Porto Real to give them work at the distillery.
Amázzoni is the only Latin American distillery to win the Best World Craft Producer of the Year and Distiller of the Year at the World Gin Awards (2018 and 2021, respectively).
