Duty Free Americas Brazil creates F&B division, opens five airport coffee shops

BRAZIL. Duty Free Americas Brazil’s new Food & Beverage Division has opened five coffee shops in Afonso Pena International Airport, Curitiba, Brazil.

Branded The Café by DFA, they are the company’s first airport coffee shops.

The shops feature premier coffee and food offerings, including espresso, cappuccino, latte and specialty coffee drinks. They offer a range of light snacks, including local foods such as coxinhas, pastries, chocolates and soft drinks.

The Café by DFA outlets are strategically positioned in high-visibility locations across the airport’s arrival and departure levels. They are designed to deliver “fast, convenient and quality service all in a cozy and friendly ambiance”, DFA said.

Duty Free Americas Chief Executive Officer Jerome Falic commented: “We are thrilled to open our company’s first coffee shops in Afonso Pena International Airport, winner of the best airport in Brazil by Infraero.

“The Café by DFA is ideally suited to the demographic of the more than 7 million passengers who visit the airport each year, and we are certain that it will remain very popular with both local and international travellers. The response to our shops has been extremely positive, which is a reflection of our commitment to provide our customers with world-class service and a rewarding experience each time they visit any of our airport establishments.

the-cafe1“Michael Dinar, President of Duty Free Americas Brazil, deserves a great deal of credit for developing this concept and for putting together the perfect team to see it come to fruition. We would also like to thank Afonso Pena International Airport and [airport owner] Infraero for giving us the opportunity to launch this new concept in their world-class, award-winning airport, and we look forward to the continuation of a strong and long-term relationship.”

DFA has been growing fast in Brazil. As reported,  it recently opened a 5,500sq ft duty free store in the post-customs Arrivals area of Salgado Filho International Airport, gateway to Porto Alegre, the capital and largest city of Brazil’s southernmost state.

That opening came hot on the heels of the unveiling of a new store at São Paulo-Congonhas Airport.

The Porto Alegre shop was just one of 18 DFA stores or F&B outlets either open or under construction in Brazil. Other locations include São Paulo-Congonhas, Manaus, Curitiba, and Maceió. When completed, these points of sale will comprise approximately 45,000 sq ft of retail space, embracing duty free stores, luxury brand travel retail boutiques, and the new chain of coffee shops. All are serviced by DFA’s 40,000sq ft logistics facility in Curitiba.
