Dufry extends Venetian Macao retail contract for seven years

Dufry Division CEO Asia, Middle East and Australia Andrea Belardini: “The marketing cooperation with Sands China Group has been elevated to reach even more visitors in Macau. Working together in both traditional and digital marketing is a key success factor in driving more potential customers to the store.”

CHINA (MACAU). Dufry has extended its contract for the Atrium store at The Venetian Macao for seven years.

The contract, struck with Sands China Group, allows Dufry to manage the 2,000sq m store in Shoppes at Venetian through to the end of 2024.

Following the concession renewal, Dufry has unveiled  plans for a full store refurbishment. The remodeled shop will feature an improved layout and several new brands.

The Venetian Macao is the most-visited casino resort in the Sands portfolio of five resorts in Macau. In total these attracted 74 million visitors in 2016. The Atrium is the largest multi-category shop in The Venetian Macao. It has been operated by Dufry (initially through Nuance-Watson HK, part-owned by The Nuance Group, which was acquired by Dufry in 2014) since the resort opened in 2007.

Work has begun on the retail development, which is due to be completed by mid-2018. The new-look store will deliver a “world-class” shopping experience for customers, Dufry pledged.

The focus will be on fragrance and cosmetics, supported by other key categories including fashion accessories, luxury goods, food and confectionery. The beauty area will dominate the store space and several new brands will be introduced, including Jo Malone London, Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani and La Prairie.

Other categories will be similarly revitalised through the addition of new brands and more defined ‘zones’ within the store space, Dufry said.

The Venetian Macao offers a vast and diverse array of shops and restaurants

The important concept of Sense of Place will be particularly evident in the food category, where the design details will reflect elements of Venetian style and architecture.

Local specialties will be offered alongside international brands.

Dufry Division CEO Asia, Middle East and Australia Andrea Belardini said, “We are delighted that we have been able to renew our contract for The Atrium. The extensive redevelopment of this store fits perfectly with Dufry’s ongoing commitment to the generation of growth in Asia, following on from the successful opening in 2016 of our 2,600sq m Temptation store in Macau’s Parisian Resort.

Beauty will underpin the product offer at the redeveloped store

“Recently, the marketing cooperation with Sands China Group has been elevated to reach even more visitors in Macau. Working together in both traditional and digital marketing is a key success factor in driving more potential customers to the store.

“We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to our partners in the Sands China Group with whom we enjoy a strong and collaborative relationship. We look forward to working with them over the coming months to take the shopping experience at The Venetian to the next level.”
