Dubai International records +9.4% increase in November traffic

UAE. Passenger traffic at Dubai International was up +9.4% year-on-year in November. A total of 6,581,805 passengers were handled, according to operator Dubai Airports.

Traffic for the first 11 months of 2016 increased +7.0% year-on-year, with 75,947,899 passengers handled.

India was the top destination country in terms of total passenger numbers in November (year-to-date 958,763 passengers). Dubai Airports said growth was largely driven by an increase in capacity and the launch of new services by a number of carriers during the year.

Saudi Arabia was second (469,483 passengers), followed by the UK (465,385) and Pakistan (308,071).

The top regions in terms of percentage growth were Eastern Europe (+26.5%) and Asia (+17.3%), followed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (+17%).

London (286,986), Doha (235,910), Mumbai (202,041) and Riyadh (151,791) were the top destination cities with highest growth during the month.

“We are very pleased with the overall growth at Dubai International in general and passenger traffic in particular, with average monthly traffic nearing seven million passengers this year,” said Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths.

“Considering the seasonal rush of travellers we experienced during the holiday season in December, we are all set to achieve impressive annual growth yet again.”
