DUBAI. Dubai Duty Free has announced the 113th winner of its Millennium Millionaire draw, which offers 5,000 ticket holders the chance to win US$1 million.
The lucky man is Juerg Wipraechtiger – a Swiss national based in Indonesia – who has been participating in the Millennium Millionaire promotion for the past seven years, purchasing three tickets a month.
On being notified of his win, an emotional Wipraechtiger said: “I am very thrilled that I have won, this is simply amazing and I thank Dubai Duty Free for making this happen.”
Wipraechtiger is the second Swiss national to have won US$1 million since the Millennium Millionaire promotion began 12 years ago. Overall there have been 113 winners from 26 countries.
Previous winner receives his prize
Following the draw on Tuesday a presentation was made to a previous Millennium Millionaire winner, Dinkar Sudhakaran, an Indian national based in Dubai.
Sudhakaran attended the presentation with his wife, Albi, and two-year-old son Ananthu. “This is the best prize we’ve ever received, it’s truly incredible. We never lose a chance to buy a ticket from Dubai Duty Free and we are delighted to call ourselves a lucky family now. It will be a good investment to our family business as we’ve just moved to Dubai three months ago,” he said.
Another winner also received his prize on Tuesday: Urlie Ubaldo, a Filipino national based in Dubai, won a Harley-Davidson motorbike in the retailer’s Finest Surprise promotion.
“I’m especially delighted to have won as it was my first ever ticket in the Finest Surprise promotion,” he said. “I will continue participating in Dubai Duty Free’s exciting promotions, to win another prize one day.”
The 113th Millennium Millionaire draw presentation was conducted by Dubai Duty Free officials headed by Managing Director Colm McLoughlin, Manager – Events, Advertising and Media Relations Sinead El Sibai, Manager – Human Resources Nic Bruwer and Financial Controller Bernard Creed.
