Dubai Airports tenders foreign exchange concessions

UAE. Dubai Airports has launched tenders for some of its key currency exchange concessions at Dubai International. The concessions come in two packages of three outlets each.

The company said: “Dubai Airports is tendering the currency exchange units in various locations within Dubai International to ensure that it remains at the forefront of currency exchange service, delivering the best in service and satisfaction levels for our ever-demanding customers.”

Package 1 covers units in T1 arrivals, T2 arrivals (bag claim) and T2 departures, with the documents available for purchase from today to 29 July. Submission date for the tender is 16 August.Package 2 covers units in T1 departures, T2 arrivals (landside) and Concourse A departures, with the documents available for purchase from today to 29 July. Submission date for the tender is also 16 August.

The tenders are open to currency exchange specialists that have relevant experience, including at least one airport with more than 50 million travellers for a three-year period. They must have a chain of minimum three outlets in the UAE or internationally. And they must show financial, managerial and operational capability, with minimum annual turnover of AED80 million.

Currently Dubai Airports works with Travelex plus several local foreign exchange operators including a local bank to provide currency exchange services.

Dubai International became the world’s busiest airport for international passengers in 2014 when it welcomed more than 70 million passengers. It has since sealed its position at the top of the list of busiest international hubs with total traffic exceeding 88.2 million passengers in 2017, and an estimated 90.2 million passengers expected in 2018.
