UAE. Dubai Airports has marked the anniversary of the birth of Sheikh Zayed by launching an art exhibition inspired by his life and works at Dubai International.
A dedicated ‘Year of Zayed’ gallery in Terminal 3, arrivals is part of the ongoing celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The pieces of art, specially commissioned as part of the artDXB programme, have been created by students of the Mawaheb from Beautiful People art studio in Dubai and Diaa Allam, Arabic calligraphy artist. In addition, the MOJO studio has produced a piece of mosaic art using imagery of His Highness.
The five pieces produced by students of Mawaheb are creative interpretations on canvas of some of the inspirational quotes taken from HH Sheikh Zayed’s writing. Arabic calligrapher Diaa Allam was then asked to bring the pieces together by writing the quotes on the canvas over the painting.
Exhibiting by the side of these paintings is a mosaic style image compiled of images of Zayed and his life achievements which was designed and created by MOJO at their studio in Al Serkal Avenue. Egyptian artist Diaa Allam created an artistic impression portrait of Sheikh Zayed using his trademark Arabic calligraphy as a live activation on the launch day.
