Dramatic landscapes and local culinary delights: SSP opens new restaurant bar concept at Belfast International

UK. SSP is to open a restaurant bar concept at Belfast International Airport which draws inspiration from Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway – the backdrop for hit TV series Game of Thrones.

Sip & Stone will open this month. Its menu will focus on local dishes, recipes and ingredients and features locally-sourced steaks, burgers, sausages and bacon.

Sip & Stone: SSP is celebrating Belfast’s culture and culinary traditions with the new concept

The bar will serve beers from around the world on draft and in bottles, and offers an international wine list and a range of premium spirits.

An in-house bakery will serve a variety of freshly baked cakes and muffins, grab-and-go sandwiches and freshly ground barista coffee.

Sip & Stone aims to highlight the history and heritage of the local area in its design. According to SSP, it features a “modern, contemporary and natural design” and offers a relaxing environment. The restaurant bar will be open all day.

For aspirational customers: Sip & Stone has a modern look but its design also reflects the history and heritage of the local area

“SSP has innovated this space from a traditional food village, to a modern concept, with an environment that is in tune with the needs of the aspirational customer,” said SSP UK and Ireland CEO Simon Smith. “In the development, we’ve worked closely with the airport to underscore Belfast’s culture and culinary traditions.”

Belfast International Airport Managing Director Graham Keddie commented: “Belfast International Airport is in an exciting phase of growth with over six million passengers expected to travel through the airport in 2018.

“It is essential to provide facilities that meet the growing needs of our leisure and business customers and we are pleased that SSP has invested in these new facilities. I’m sure passengers will enjoy sampling some iconic culinary delights that will be on offer at Sip & Stone.”
