Double millionaire receives prize in Dubai Duty Free draw

UAE. British national Darren Booth, the latest winner of the Dubai Duty Free Double Millionaire prize draw, accepted his cheque for US$2 million on Tuesday.

Booth was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as part of a charity event when his winning ticket was drawn in the promotion on 27 September. With no access to his telephone, the Dubai-based businessman was unaware of his win until he returned home.

He received his US$2 million cheque from Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free.

Booth said: “The day my ticket was drawn I was participating in a five-day charity event climbing Kilimanjaro with an international team from New Zealand, England and Germany. I was thrilled to hear that I had won the Dubai Duty Free Double Millionaire Promotion. This life changing experience will help me to fulfill my dreams and allow me to help those who are less fortunate and have come into troubled times.”

Paul St. Pierre, another British national living in Dubai, became the 121st winner of the US$1 million Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion, when his ticket No. 1934 was drawn in Sheikh Rashid Terminal by the Dubai Duty Free team today.

He said: “What an amazing surprise from Dubai Duty Free! I am very excited about this win as have been trying my luck since the Millennium Millionaire began and now I have finally won.”

Following the Millennium Millionaire, Dubai Duty Free conducted its Finest Surprise draw and announced winners of two luxury vehicles.

Jean Claude Boissier, a French national from Langeac city in south-central France won the latest model of a Jaguar XJ 5.0 (Polaris White) in Series 1468 with ticket no. 0016 while Tulsi H. Mirchandani, an Indian national from Dubai won a Ducati Superbike 848 Evo in Series 184 with ticket no. 0930.

Mirchandani said: “I never lose a chance to purchase a ticket in the Finest Surprise promotion as every ticket gives a hope to win. I am happy that I’ve finally made it and cannot wait to have a first ride on my brand new bike.”

Mohamad Bikai, a Lebanese national from Abu Dhabi, today received the keys for a Black Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, which he won two weeks back in Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise, Series 1466 with ticket no. 0855. Bikai was accompanied by his son Mustafa Bikai at the presentation ceremony.

“Being regular participants of the Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise Promotion my son and I were hoping to be among the lucky winners one day. Finally, our perseverance has paid off and we are excited to join Dubai Duty Free today to thank the company and share the joy of winning”, commented Bikai Senior.

The Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise Draw and a presentation to earlier winners were conducted by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, President George Horan, Salah Tahlak, Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications and Sinead El Sibai, Vice President – Marketing.
