GERMANY/MIDDLE EAST. AOE, a pioneer of airport omnichannel retail activities, has opened its first Middle East office in Dubai.

The Dubai office will serve as a regional launching pad for the company’s Omnichannel Multi Merchant Marketplace (OM³) solution, “helping to accelerate development while customising the solution to fulfil individual requirements”, according to AOE.

The OM³ solution has been designed to help multi-retailer venues such as airports fuse offline and online experiences into a “single comprehensive suite” of software applications and services [see video below].

AOE, a leading global provider of services and Enterprise Open Source solutions for digital transformation and digital business models, has played a key role in Frankfurt Airport’s acclaimed development of its omnichannel activities.

AOE founder and CEO Kian Gould said the Middle East region was continuously growing in importance in terms of the number of global travel hubs and shopping destinations located there. He commented: “[This] perfectly matches our strategy to bring digital business models to travel retail and integrated large-scale multi-retailer venues looking to digitise their entire value chain – in this region and around the world.

“Retail is one of the primary revenue drivers in travel and aviation, but key travel retail players need to find new ways to generate sustainable sales growth in a fiercely competitive market.

“Our OM³ Suite, first implemented at Frankfurt Airport [see video below], is ideally positioned to meet the demands of airlines, airports and malls in opening new revenue streams.”

AOE announced a €13 million investment from German private equity firm LEA Partners (through the LEA Mittelstandspartner Fund) in January. Gould said the investment would fuel international growth and expansion of the OM³ Airport Suite.
