DFS launches third edition of The Whiskey Festival at Changi Airport

SINGAPORE. DFS Group has launched the third edition of The Whiskey Festival at Singapore Changi Airport, which runs from now through to 17 June. It aims to showcase some of the world’s finest whiskies and provide travellers with a platform to expand their whiskey knowledge.

The offer includes many rare and limited-edition items, some of which are exclusively available at DFS. A line-up of interactive masterclasses will take place each weekend, where brand ambassadors will guide guests through tastings and offer advice.

“As interest in whiskey continues to grow, we aim to provide our customers with the best selection of products as well as a unique and engaging retail experience,” said DFS Group Managing Director, Singapore and Indonesia Wilcy Wong. “DFS Singapore, Changi Airport is home to the largest assortment of single malt whiskies in Southeast Asia, so we feel education is important. The Whiskey Festival offers guests an opportunity to really understand our brands, their craftsmanship and their heritage.”

The Festival activities take place at The Whiskey House, located in Terminal 2 and Terminal 4 at Changi Airport. The Whiskey House opened in July 2016 in T2 and in November 2017 in T4, offering what DFS calls “an intuitive and experiential shopping destination”.

The exquisite whiskey tastings and calendar of activities will craft one-of-a-kind experiences for travellers as they journey through Changi Airport. ”

For the Festival, DFS’ whiskies have been grouped into four categories to help guide customers through their selection process:

  • Classics: Whiskies aged in the oak casks of legacy distillers and finished with flavours of smoke
  • Discoveries: Classic whiskies with surprising notes like sweet hazelnut, velvety spice or earthy peat
  • Specialities: A take on classics, from non-chill filtered to whiskey aged at sea
  • Rare Finds: A collection of some of the rarest, most sought-after blends

Among the brands (and their representatives) to be highlighted through the master classes are:

Jura featuring Darroch Ramsay, Global Brand Specialist

Glenfiddich featuring Matthew Fergusson-Stewart, Regional Brand Ambassador

Glenlivet featuring Darren Hosie, International Brand Ambassador

Johnnie Walker featuring Jeremy Lee, Regional Brand Ambassador

In celebration of The Whiskey Festival, customers who purchase any whiskey item from DFS stores or iShopChangi (www.iShopChangi.com) will have the chance to win a trip to the Scotland distilleries, worth S$8,000.
