DFS Group reveals inaugural Masters Awards winners at annual watches & jewellery exhibition

CHINA (MACAU). DFS Group has revealed the winners of the inaugural DFS Masters Awards, a recognition of innovation, artistry and flair in the watch and jewellery categories. The awards are among the highlights of the 12th edition of the Masters of Time exhibition, an annual celebration of craftsmanship and design in timepieces and high-end jewellery.

Breguet was among the big winners, capturing two awards for Best Overall Timepiece and People’s Choice. Fabergé X James Ganh claimed the prize for Excellence in Jewellery Design and its Compliquée line won for Excellence in Innovation.

The Petit Hero (best timepiece under US$12,000) award went to Chopard for the L.U.C GMT One Black, the Excellence in Craftsmanship award went to Bulgari for the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar and Best Overall Jewellery Piece was won by Boucheron for its Plume de Paon high-jewellery necklace.

A panel of specially-selected, independent experts judged the pieces for their timelessness, technical excellence, craftsmanship, innovation and exceptional use of a variety of artistic techniques.

The panelists, led by chair Carson Chan, the head of the Greater China mission for the Fondation de la Haute Horologerie, come from a diverse background of industry experts, designers, tastemakers and entrepreneurs. Other judges included Laura Lan, Nik Wang, Vianney Halter, Emmanuel Gueit, Penny Chiang, Samuel Chan and Lung Lung Thun.

Customers could vote on the DFS WeChat Mini-Program for the People’s Choice Award — with a chance to win a DFS voucher worth MOP$1,000 (US$125).

The 12th Master’s of Time exhibition, which opened on 15 November and will run until 6 February, gives guests a rare glimpse into a ‘treasure trove’ of pieces that embody the captivating allure of rare gems, jewels and stones.

Hosted at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons, Masters of Time features 250 timepieces and fine jewellery items from over 40 world-renowned houses unveiled, including exclusive bespoke pieces created especially for the event. A two-day gala weekend on 3 and 4 December is among the big event highlights.

Created by DFS in 2008 to bring the best brands in the world of watchmaking – and their ambassadors – together with enthusiasts and collectors, Masters of Time is traditionally hosted each year in Macau.
