DFS Group recommended for sunglasses & watches store award at San Francisco Airport

USA. DFS Group has been recommended for a sunglasses and watches concession award at San Francisco International Airport’s A Pier, The Moodie Davitt Report can confirm.

The award is subject to Airport Commission approval. The concession involves a seven-year year lease for a 1,041sq ft store, San Francisco International Airport Director Revenue Development & Management Cheryl Nashir told The Moodie Davitt Report.

The location will offer duty paid watches and sunglasses on a non-exclusive basis. It is part of a competition for three news/convenience outlets and two specialty retail operations, each awarded separately

The win, if ratified, will be a boost for DFS in the run-up to the 14-year Duty Free and Luxury Stores concession, for which bids close on 15 September. The winning bidder is likely to be selected on 20 October with the contract awarded the following month.

As reported, long-term incumbent DFS faces stiff competition for that concession after many of the world’s leading travel retailers attended a pre-bid meeting in April.

Golden gateway: DFS will be hoping to repeat the sunglasses and watches success when the contract for its coveted duty free and luxury stores lease is awarded
