Taking flight: The Delhi Duty Free shopping cart takes products to consumers

INDIA. Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS) has introduced an airplane-design mobile shopping cart at Delhi International Airport. The retailer said it was a first for travel retail in the Indian subcontinent.

In a statement, DDFS said it wanted to make last-minute shopping easier for passengers before boarding, and that it would boost sales, and improve customer experience. It targets departing passengers, especially those that rush to gates and are unable to enter duty free stores.

The mobile cart offers products from the core categories in travel retail, including liquor, perfumes & cosmetics, confectionery and Tobacco. A Shop & Collect service will be available soon.

The cart was developed in partnership with Maini Group, which designs and manufactures eco-friendly electric vehicles.
