Delhi Duty Free introduces gate delivery service

INDIA. Delhi Duty Free has introduced gate delivery for purchases made at its stores, which it said is a first for travel retail at the country’s airports. The company said the move was a response to consumer demand for touchless service options in the post-pandemic travel era.

Delhi Duty Free is heavily promoting the new service, which it says responds to new consumer attitudes to shopping

Travellers waiting at any gate in international departures at Delhi Indira Gandhi International can scan a QR Code and visit a mobile-friendly website using their own device. There they can browse through 5,000 products across the categories of liquor, perfumes & cosmetics, skincare and souvenirs. They select their products and pay online or upon delivery.

The service is available for shoppers who have 45 minutes or more before the closure of boarding gates. From selection to checkout takes just three clicks, said Delhi Duty Free, with customer notifications at each stage of the process: booking, confirmation and despatch.

Shoppers will receive -5% off regular prices when using the service, with a further 10% cashback if they use a card of Delhi Duty Free banking partner Citibank.

Delhi Duty Free will soon extend the service to guests of airport service provider Plaza Premium Lounge.

The retailer said: “Delhi Duty Free intends to instil passenger confidence in international travel and extend services to improve passenger convenience. With this service passengers can now spend more quality time at the airport [and] avail of duty free shopping.”
