“Cruise retailing is back”: Industry boost as MSC Grandiosa returns to service in Mediterranean

EUROPE. In a boost to the cruise sector in Europe, MSC Cruises’ flagship MSC Grandiosa returned to sea on Sunday 24 January. She resumed her weekly cruise programme from Genoa, calling at the other Italian ports of Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo as well as Valetta in Malta.

A new ministerial decree authorised the resumption of cruise operations under health and safety protocols that were developed last Summer, along with the Italian health, transport and safety authorities. Since then, MSC Cruises has welcomed over 30,000 guests on board its two ships based out of Italy.

During the Christmas and end-of-year period, Italy-based cruise operations were temporarily suspended because of restrictions imposed on movement within the country.

Hailing the return, MSC Cruises Head of Retail Adrian Pittaway said on LinkedIn: “Cruise retailing is back! Our MSC Grandiosa retail team welcome you back safely on board as we set sail from Genoa on our first cruise back.”
