Copenhagen Airports selects Nordic Choice to implement US$10.1 million hotel upgrade

DENMARK. The Hilton hotel at Copenhagen Airport is to receive a DKK70 million (US$10.1 million) upgrade.

Nordic Choice Hotels will take over the operation of the hotel as part of its high-end brand, Clarion Hotel. From 1 April 2017 the hotel will be known as the Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport.

Nordic Choice Hotels will introduce restaurant concept ‘Kitchen & Table By Marcus Samuelsson’. Samuelsson is known for being former US President Barack Obama’s favourite chef, and he has many restaurants around the world.

Copenhagen Airports CEO Thomas Woldbye: “It’s vital it is even more reflective of the Nordic feel and high quality that we want to offer”

Hotel owner Copenhagen Airports said rooms, conference facilities and the lobby would also all be refreshed.

“The hotel is important for many of our travellers. It’s therefore vital for us that it is even more reflective of the Nordic feel and high quality that we want to offer those travellers,” said Copenhagen Airports CEO Thomas Woldbye. “Nordic Choice Hotels can deliver that, and I’m certain we’ve found the right partner.”

Woldbye said Copenhagen Airports had enjoyed an “excellent collaboration” with Hilton since the hotel opened in 2001. Employees will continue to work at the hotel under the new Clarion brand.

Nordic Choice Hotels owner Petter Stordalen outlined the company’s vision for the hotel: “Clarion Hotel is our high-end chain with a strong full-service concept, and it sets a high standard for design, interiors, art, food and drink.

“It’s our ambition that this hotel should be reborn as an even bigger success. Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport has been crowned Sweden’s best business hotel and Europe’s most luxurious airport hotel, and experiences from there will benefit the hotel at Copenhagen Airport.”
