Coming soon: Calling for interest in the Airport Commercial Revenues Study 2018 Edition

Since its launch in 1998, The Airport Commercial Revenues Study has become an important tool in benchmarking revenue performance across sectors and by various indicators

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report today announced the launch later this year of the 2018 Airport Commercial Revenue Study (ACRS) – the travel retail industry’s leading study benchmarking the commercial performance of world airports – which has been owned by The Moodie Davitt Report since 2007.

And in a back-to-the-future style move, The Moodie Davitt Report also announced an expansion of its partnership with the industry’s leading consultants and advisors The Mercurius Group, who will lead the conduct and production of the ACRS.

The Mercurius Group Managing Director Ivo Favotto was the founder and author of the ACRS (going back to the first edition, then known as The Airport Retail Study, released in 1998). He returns to ensure that in addition to providing the high-quality benchmarking and analysis for which the ACRS is renowned, it also keeps pace with the ever-changing and expanding needs of the travel retail industry.

As the first report of its kind in the airport world, the ACRS spurred a more enlightened approach to capitalising on the benefits of improved terminal design, increased commercial spaces and better decision-making based on detailed analysis of commercial performance.

Since its inception, the ACRS has been a go-to document for airport commercial managers and executives, retail and F&B operators, brands and travel retail suppliers, bankers and financiers, governments as well as owner and investors around the world.

Ivo Favotto: “I am happy to continue the journey of bringing greater understanding of commercial performance and better insight into the planning of terminal developments to the travel retail sector”

The ACRS is unique in gathering data directly from participating airports, rather than assembling reports from media releases and public source data.  Airports participating in the ACRS have continuously shown their trust in The Moodie Davitt Report’s integrity and standing within the industry.

The Mercurius Group’s understanding of the airport commercial revenues sector will be employed to ensure that the data is analysed to maximise the commercial value of the data for both participants and the wider travel retail community.

Importantly, the ACRS will not only provide data to compare and benchmark airport commercial performance. It will also provide data that the industry can use to help plan future terminal expansions and developments.  It does this by helping users to understand how much commercial space in each airport precinct is commercially and profitably sustainable.

Over the next weeks The Moodie Davitt Report and The Mercurius Group’s teams will be out in the field engaging with airport commercial teams participating in the study.

Commenting on the launch of the 2018 ACRS, The Moodie Davitt Report Founder Martin Moodie said “We are excited to be launching the next edition of the ACRS.  The feedback we have received from subscribers to previous editions is that it is an invaluable tool and we are proud to be able to bring this level of insight and analysis to the airport commercial revenues sector.

“We are delighted to have expanded our relationship with The Mercurius Group – with whom we have also developed The Airport Car Parking Study – to the production and development of the ACRS. Ivo knows the ACRS like the back of his hand and his experience in advising airports, retailers, restaurateurs and brands ensures that we can take the ACRS to the next level,” Moodie added.

The Mercurius Group Founder Ivo Favotto said, “The ACRS and I go back a long way.  I am proud of what it has become, its longevity and of the improvements to it that The Moodie Davitt Report have made to it along the way”.

“So, I am happy to go back to the future and continue the journey of bringing greater understanding of commercial performance and better insight into the planning of terminal developments to the travel retail sector,” Favotto said, “and even happier to extend our partnership with The Moodie Davitt Report.”
