Coffee and craft beer: Casualfood introduces Beans & Barley to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport

GERMANY. Travel food specialist Casualfood has unveiled a new Beans & Barley concept at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. The Terminal A airside Level 1 outlet offers craft beer and coffee, along with a range of sweet and savoury snacks in a space just under 40sq m.

Nice name, nice concept: Beans & Barley fuses craft beer and coffee.

Casualfood Managing Partners Stefan Weber and Michael Weigel said: “Craft beer and coffee are a great match. Both beverages have developed incredibly strongly in recent years and have become veritable indulgence products boasting a great deal of variety.

“For us, it was therefore the obvious thing to do to bring these two favourites together within a single concept and offer them as Beans & Barley.”

Casualfoods said Beans & Barley focuses on quality and sustainability, with a wide range of traditional beer products and 15 craft beers from the Stone Brewing, Braufactum and Berliner Berg brands.

Its coffee beans are sourced from Casualfood’s roasting facility, where they undergo a drum roasting process. Nitro cold brew coffee is highlighted and coffee flavours include almond, caramel, toasted marshmallow and Irish cream. Almond, oak, soya and lactose-free milk are available.

Beans & Barley snacks include pulled chicken buns, Berlin meatballs and a vegetarian option with feta and olives. Fresh food counter offerings include a vegan quinoa salad, Mediterranean pasta salad, muesli and chocolate blancmange.

The new outlet also offers local snacks and a range of salads and treats from its fresh food counter.

Casualfood claimed that Beans & Barley is “just the thing for guests looking for more flavour and indulgence, more freshness and craftsmanship, more atmosphere and creativity, and more exclusivity and originality”.

Souvenirs including a Berlin coffee cup, coffee brewer and a Weducer cup made of pressed coffee grounds.

Casualfood launched a new Brezel Lovers concept at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 airside earlier this year. The new outlets expand its portfolio to 12 food service and store brands across 56 outlets.
