Clear Channel Airports partners with Uber to signpost Seattle passengers to pickup

US. In a national first, Clear Channel Airports has announced a new advertising promotion in partnership with Uber at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It helps signpost air passengers “conveniently and clearly” to find their Uber pickup at the airport.

The out-of-home advertising campaign features directional signage in the post-security, baggage claim and parking garage areas throughout the Seattle airport.

Clear Channel explained that the campaign works in tandem with other way-finding ground transportation signage and technology within the airport. The advertising company claims that the advertising campaign reaches an estimated 86% of all airport arrivals and guides 100% of all Uber ride-share passengers as they make their way to the designated pick-up area.

“A more convenient experience for the everyday traveller”: The initiative helps ride-share passengers to more easily find their Uber service providers

Uber Airport Partnerships Lead Rob Mitchell said: “When you add it all up, this partnership among Uber, Seattle Airport and Clear Channel Airports is a big step to creating a more convenient experience for the everyday traveller. Travel can be stressful, and our goal is to make your experience faster and more informed when you need a ride from, and to, your destination.

“Along with many other innovations we’ve developed with airports, we see a bright future that continues to place [the] customer experience at the centre of all we do together.”

The campaign is running through October 2019, and is launching in other airports across North America later this year.

“When planned carefully in alignment with the airport authority and with the traveller’s journey in mind, advertising featuring intuitive directional messaging can be highly effective”

Clear Channel Airports Senior Vice President National Sales Jon Sayer commented: “Working very closely with Uber’s team, we’ve created a unique advertising campaign that paves a fast, no-stress way to connect passengers to their ride-share pick-ups at Seattle Airport.

“This first of its kind campaign proves that when planned carefully in alignment with the airport authority and with the traveller’s journey in mind, advertising featuring intuitive directional messaging can be highly effective.”

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Senior Manager Airport Dining & Retail Dawn Hunter welcomed the new three-way partnership. She added: “The airport has received positive passenger feedback as the messaging provides a clear pathway to the ground transportation areas located on the third level of the garage. The campaign is an innovative and proactive way for airports to advertise and provide passenger amenities.”

Clear Channel Airports was awarded a ten-year contract to spearhead Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s media programme in 2017.
