Clear Channel Airports captures contract extension at regional airport in Omaha

USA. Clear Channel Airports (CCA) has been awarded a three-year extension to its airport advertising contract at Omaha Airport Authority’s Eppley Airfield. It follows a recent advertising contract win at Philadelphia International, and complements 15 new concessions for CCA in 2018 and 80 over the last five years.

CCA, which is the Americas-based airports business of Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, will install the new media upgrades by September.

The Omaha agreement continues a relationship that began in 2009 when CCA invested nearly US$500,000 in deployment of digital media at the airport. CCA said it nearly doubled the annual revenue of the previous concessionaire during the course of contract term.

CCA will introduce branding of the Omaha cityscape inspired by The Old Market, and develop the arrivals corridors with large LED video walls.

“Clear Channel Airports has demonstrated strong commitment to our partnership over the years and as a result Omaha Airport Authority and Clear Channel Airports have had a very good and mutually beneficial working relationship,” said Omaha Airport Authority Director, Finance and Administration Stanley Kathol. “The new contract and related investment on the part of Clear Channel Airports will bring more enhancements to continue to align with our mission of providing premier customer service and airport facilities through operational excellence.”

“We’ve been Eppley Airfield’s advertising provider for over ten years and we’re proud to call them our strategic partners for another three years,” said CCA President Morten Gotterup. “With its impressive passenger growth, OMA remains a top choice in the Midwest for brands to reach their audiences via our state of the art media network. We’re excited to develop new offerings for advertisers to reach business travellers and local residents in this vibrant city.”

The new advertising programme will include:

  • Introduction of branding of the Omaha cityscape inspired by The Old Market;
  • Development of the arrivals corridors with large, head-on, custom LED video walls;
  • Digital network across both baggage claim areas;
  • Large-format static displays in prime locations not previously available; and
  • Redeveloping and beautifying the arrivals soffits of down escalators with upgraded, energy-saving LED lighted signage.

Located four miles from downtown Omaha, Eppley Airfield served over 5 million passengers in 2018.

CCA said it offers advertisers the opportunity “to connect and engage with a diverse group of travellers including leisure, business and local residents”. Omaha is home to nine Fortune 1000 companies and is a regular stop for various NCAA basketball activities (including post-season tournaments). The city hosts the College World Series every year, the Olympic swim trials and the Annual Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ meeting, which attracts over 40,000 members from around the world.

The airport is embarking on a terminal modernisation and expansion project to consolidate the TSA checkpoint, consolidate arrivals, move more food, beverage and news and gift concessions beyond the checkpoint and add additional gates.
