Chloé prepares to open revamped Haitang Bay boutique after successful pop-up activation

CHINA. French luxury fashion house Chloé is preparing to open its renovated boutique in the China Duty Free Group-run Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay next month, after successfully hosting a pop-up store through October.

The pop-up, located in the shopping centre’s main atrium, celebrates Chloé’s Autumn-Winter 2021 collection – the debut assortment from Uruguay-born, New York-based designer Gabriela Hearst, who joined forces with Chloé at the end of last year.

The pop-up pays tribute to the origins of Chloé founder Gaby Aghion and to the Maison’s new designer Gabriela Hearst

The curated house style is being staged within a nature-inspired space. Smooth and soft, the narrative of the pop-up store is a nod to Chloé founder, Gaby Aghion, whose birthplace of Egypt is echoed in a warm desert palette, and to Gabriela Hearst, through earthy textured tones recalling her years in Uruguay.

Natural and sustainable materials that include cane, wood, natural fibres and terracotta represent the purpose-driven vision that is true to the Maison’s past and present, Chloé said.

Standout pieces include those from Paya Home, originally from Xishuangbanna in China’s Yunnan Province, that convey the traditional Dai wood technique. Together with other objects in the store, they become testaments to enduring creation, Chloé commented.

The ready-to-wear collection features design elements such as recycled cashmere, multi-coloured textured stripes and scallops detailing. Underpinned by the visual language of the pop-up store, Gabriela Hearst’s personal inspiration is expressed with a relaxed yet modern spirit.

The Edith bag, first launched in 2006 and defined by its structured yet feminine shape and equestrian detailing, makes its return in the Autumn-Winter 21 collection, projecting a style that is “quintessentially Chloé”.

The Autumn-Winter 2021 collection pop-up store looks toward the future with a vision focused on timeless and purpose-driven design, Chloé said.
