Chinese culture comes alive in Lagardère Travel Retail’s Auckland Airport activation

NEW ZEALAND. Lagardère Travel Retail held seven spectacular nightly performances at its Aelia Duty Free departures store at Auckland Airport to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Some 35 entertainers came together for the large-scale activation (see video below), which Lagardère said was the biggest ever seen in its Auckland Airport stores.

Chinese traditional opera, folk dancers and the traditional lion dance entertained customers and staff during the performances, which the retailer said required hours of preparation each evening.

Lagardère Travel Retail Pacific CEO Przemek Lesniak commented: “This place is unique, with both the multi-cultural backdrop of New Zealand and our passenger profile, and we wanted to celebrate the sights and sounds of the Chinese culture in a unique way.”

The retailer said it wanted to create a “stand-out” activation in recognition of the ever-increasing number of Chinese passengers visiting the Pacific region. “This activation ensured this important cultural celebration was shared amongst both international and local passengers travelling throughout this period,” Lagardère said.

As reported, Lagardère Travel Retail held Chinese New Year activations across the globe to mark the festive period.

Lagardère Travel Retail also created an activation at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport through its Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire (SDA) joint venture with Groupe ADP/Paris Aéroport
