China Duty Free Group pledges full-scale support for China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has underlined its commitment to Hainan’s booming offshore duty free sector with a wholehearted pledge of support for the first China International Consumer Products Expo to be held on the island province on 7-10 May.

CDFG plans to bring management and procurement teams from 200 stores across China to the event, which is being organised by Hainan International Economic Development Bureau.

CDFG’s commitment follows a meeting in Beijing on 8 January between Hainan International Economic Development Bureau (Hainan IEDB) Director General Han Shengjian and China Duty Free (Group) Co. Ltd. (CDFG) Chairman Peng Hui to discuss a “comprehensive cooperation” for the inaugural Consumer Expo.

CDFG said that its large Expo delegation will communicate with global brands that are exhibiting and actively carry out product procurement.

Director General Han Shengjian said that the pioneering China International Consumer Products Expo will be themed ‘Opening up China and Hainan first’. This positioning, combined with Hainan’s status as an international tourism consumption centre, will create an important national-level exhibition for international brands, accelerate the repatriation of overseas consumption by Chinese citizens, and drive the upgrading of domestic retail, he pledged.

CDF Mall in Haitang Bay currently ranks as the world’s hottest destination for duty free shopping

CDFG has been invited to make full use of the Expo platform, in terms of procurement, publicity, promotion, and overall event participation.

Chairman Peng Hui said that CDFG, as a leading Chinese duty free business, is very optimistic about the platform of the first China International Consumer Products Expo and will participate “deeply” in it.

CDFG will further consolidate its market leadership in Hainan by opening the Haikou International Duty Free Mall in 2022

In addition to making full use of the Expo platform to connect with global partners and encourage international brand participation, CDFG will support and fully participate in the exhibition’s newly announced ‘Global Duty Free and Travel Retail Conference’ and other Expo activities.
