CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) today celebrated the opening of a new-look departures duty free store at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.

A grand opening ceremony was attended by CDFG President Charles Chen and Deputy General Manager Wang Yanguang; Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport General Manager Zheng Xiangping and Deputy General Managers Zhu Qian and Jia Buwei; together with Chen Gang of Hangzhou Airport Customs and Hangzhou Airport Border Protection Office. Wang Hong, the airport director, attended the ceremony and congratulated the stakeholders on the opening.

The golden touch: Representatives from China Duty Free Group, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, and other official organisations mark the opening in spectacular style.

The new 1,000sq m store offers an extensive range of Chinese tobacco and liquor brands; imported wines, spirits and tobacco; and imported fragrances, cosmetics, food, confectionery, luxury and accessory brands.

The elegant 1,000sq m store offers an extensive range of international and Chinese brands across a diverse array of categories.

Big-name labels making their debut include Tom Ford, Jo Malone, MAC, Sulwhasoo, Giorgio Armani, YSL, Clarins, La Prairie, Vichy, La Roche-Posay, Helena Rubinstein, Kiehl’s, fresh, L’Oréal and many other internationally renowned brands.

The new store design combines elements that convey the beauty of Hangzhou, including a door shaped like a wave from the city’s famous West Lake. Another feature sees the bluestone plate of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street (a hugely popular downtown recreation of what Hangzhou looked like seven centuries ago) used as an in-store pathway. Such features are designed to showcase Hangzhou’s charms to the world, CDFG said.

Thanks to strong partnerships with the airport and airport-related organisationss, the business had come on “in leaps and bounds”, Charles Chen told guests.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Charles Chen said that CDFG has enjoyed a strong and long-term relationship with Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport over the past eight years.

Thanks to the strong support of the airport, Customs and related official entities, business has come on “in leaps and bounds”, Chen noted. And thanks to excellent service from customer-friendly staff, the duty free offer has been well-received, he added.

The new store, conceived and refurbished by internationally renowned designers, represents another step forward in CDFG’s internationalisation and modernization, Chen said.

Zheng said that the good spirit, achievements and excellent service provided by CDFG had allowed Hangzhou Airport to achieve both financial and social benefits. He cited the September 2016 G20 Summit in Hangzhou as an example of how the cooperative spirit between the two organisations had resulted in positive feedback on a very high profile occasion.

He said he hoped to strength the alliance with CDFG even further to encourage a “win-win” in the future and increase the airport’s strong momentum.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International is one of the world’s top 100 airports by passenger traffic, which grew by +12.6% last year according to Airports Council International.

Another big day for fast-rising China Duty Free Group as its senior management celebrate the grand opening with senior airport and other officials.

The airport has maintained particularly strong growth of its domestic route network while opening up several international routes in recent years. As a result of the G20 Summit effect, several further international connections were opened.
