Chicago Department of Aviation issues commercial RFPs at O’Hare and Midway airports

USA. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has issued new concession opportunities at Chicago O’Hare and Midway International airports via The Moodie Davitt Report.

At Chicago O’Hare the Department of Aviation invites proposals for three concession packages: one for a mobile electronic self-ordering and delivery service; another for automated self-checkout micro marts in addition to a contract for automated retail, services and food concessions. The deadline for submissions is 4 September, with an award anticipated in October.

The Department of Aviation said: “While COVID-19 has significantly impacted travel at both airports, CDA is taking steps to ensure that as passengers return to travel, new services and amenities will be in place. As an example, CDA is seeking a company that can provide passengers with the ability to electronically order food and goods from any and all concessions at O’Hare, in person and remotely. For those passengers that don’t want to pick it up, they can have their order delivered to their gate.

“CDA also wants passengers to experience a new retailing trend that allows them to “walk out” and electronically purchase food, beverages and other retail items. CDA wants to attract a company to develop these two spaces into self-service, cashier-less, concessions.

“Taking automation a step further, CDA is seeking companies that have both goods and services that can be purchased or accessed in an automated retailing unit. Whether it is pre-packaged food, machine prepared food, clothing, electronics, health, beauty, communications or tele-medicine options, CDA is making a variety of spaces available to companies seeking to expand at O’Hare.”
