Copper Dog Scotch whisky has signed as sponsor of ‘The Front Line’, The Moodie Davitt Report’s highly popular column that champions customer service staff in travel retail stores and airport F&B.

The Front Line, now one of our longest-running features, was introduced in August 2011 when The Moodie Davitt e-Zine was launched.

In the intervening six years, it has profiled hundreds of front-line staff around the travel retail world. Each column includes comments from both employee and employer. Front-line staff relate their customer service philosophy while their employers describe what makes the staff members so exceptional.

Besides the fortnightly e-Zine exposure, The Front Line nominees are also featured regularly on our website, MoodieDavittReport.com

As part of the sponsorship, each featured Frontliner will receive a personalised Copper Dog bottle and dipper from the brand’s home in Speyside.

Excitingly, Copper Dog will host a grand prize draw in late 2018  featuring the previous 12 month’s nominated staff. One lucky Frontliner will win a VIP, all-expenses paid trip to Scotland, staying at the brand’s superb Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside, Scotland.

Explaining the decision to sponsor The Front Line, Copper Dog Managing Director Andrew Torrance told The Moodie Davitt Report: “This is a real personal one for me. I love highlighting staff that do an amazing customer service job.

On a spiritual sprauchle as the whisky river calls me away
And me, I feel reborn. I’ll be back for a spiritual sprauchle to this magical place as soon as I can. I can already hear the call of the whisky river.

“I started off at 16 working as an office junior filing and making cups of tea, as my father said I was not clever enough to go to university! I think I have nearly done every job in the whisky industry, but one thing struck me in the younger part of my working life – i.e. that no one said thank you or well done when you did a service job.

“All across the world, so many amazing people are doing so many service jobs. However, the people that get up at 3a.m. to work a morning shift and look amazing, with amazing smiles and stand and serve us are the real heroes.

“I can name so many amazing people around the world who deserve to be highlighted for creating excellence.

“I have this quote on my wall at home: ‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.’ That’s how I see customer service and why Copper Dog is delighted to sponsor The Front Line.”

About Copper Dog: Copper Dog, a blend of Speyside single malt whiskies, was launched into selected on-trade and travel retail locations in 2016.

Copper Dog is the brainchild of London nightclub, bar and restaurant entrepreneur Piers Adam, who bought The Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside, Scotland in October 2013. His company, Copper Dog Whisky Limited, has entered into a partnership with Diageo, which has a non-controlling interest in the brand and a supply and distribution agreement.

The name comes from a bar and restaurant Adam opened at The Craigellachie Hotel called The Copper Dog – a reference to the method by which workers at whisky distilleries in days gone by would filch a few ounces in small copper tubing cut-offs. Keen to offer guests a suitable memento of their stay at his hotel in the beautiful Speyside region, Adam set about creating an appropriate whisky. Copper Dog was born.
