USA. Celebrity Millennium has been dramatically transformed as part of Celebrity Cruises’ biggest ever fleet-wide modernisation, with more than US$500 million being spent in ship upgrades.
As well as redesigned staterooms and suites, a new sundeck and reimagined restaurants, bars, and lounges, new boutiques featuring hot designer names have been added including Shinola, John Hardy and Hublot.
Millennium’s upgrades – started just a few weeks ago on 2 January at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore – also include a redesigned spa and casino. Partners in the process included renowned international hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), New York health and leisure design house Krause Sawyer, and famed designer Kelly Hoppen, MBE.
Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said: “Celebrity Millennium has been transformed from top to bottom. I want to share my deepest gratitude with the teams who have worked so hard to make this happen, and I can’t wait for our guests to experience this revolution in travel for themselves.”
The cruise line is wasting no time in revamping its other ships. Celebrity Summit has already entered dry-dock in the Bahamas for its own transformation, with seven more ships to be modernised by 2023.
Celebrity Cruises – part of New York listed group Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited – reimagined many of the restaurants and lounges found on the 2,138-passenger Celebrity Millennium, including the upgrading of Oceanview Café to an open concept with extra seating options, and globally-inspired culinary offerings; the revamp of the Main Restaurant with more seating and updated fixtures; plus a redesigned Sunset Bar and Rendezvous Lounge.
As we reported recently, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge launched in spectacular style in December. It features what retail partner Starboard Cruise Services calls “a next-level shopping experience” across 7,000sq ft onboard.
