Coty is to launch Calvin Klein’s new fragrance for women in travel retail this September.
Calvin Klein Women is the first Calvin Klein fragrance developed under the vision of Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons. It celebrates a “dynamic and multifaceted femininity”, according to the brand.
Calvin Klein Women was devised by perfumers Annick Menardo and Honorine Blanc, and is intended as “a play of contrasts, as infinitely varied as the personas of the women who inspire it”. The light pink-hued fragrance is built around three core ingredients – orange flower petals, eucalyptus acorns, and Alaskan cedarwood.
The launch campaign champions inspirational women of both past generations and contemporary culture. It was created by agency Lloyd & Co. and artist Anne Collier, whose photographic artwork also features on both the packaging and the bottle design.
The bottle and packaging are intended to express the creative identity of Raf Simons’s work, according to Calvin Klein.
Hollywood actresses Saoirse Ronan and Lupita Nyong’o are the faces of the campaign. The pair have also selected inspirational women to be depicted in it: Sissy Spacek, Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt and Katharine Hepburn.
“In approaching the campaign for Calvin Klein Women I was curious to see if it was possible to create a different kind of image: an image that was both confident and empathetic, where the female subjects could articulate and project their own identities,” said Collier.
Calvin Klein Women will be on counter in travel retail locations in Europe, Asia and the Americas in September.
