Cees Visser secures travel retail deals with Louis Max and Russkaya

Dutch drinks distributor Cees Visser has added wine specialist Louis Max and Russian vodka brand Russkaya to his portfolio.

Visser is highly-regarded in travel retail, with 50 years’ experience in the channel. He was Business Unit Director at B&S Paul Global, the Dutch travel retailer and distributor, before setting up his own consultancy.

Louis Max owns over 230 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy, the Rhône Valley and Languedoc. It is known for its support of organic viticulture and its wines were previously unavailable in travel retail.

Louis Max specialises in Burgundy grand crus and white wines from the Maconnais, with several appellations, including a Pouilly Fuissé. It also offers a wide range of Beaujolais and organic wines.

Mercurey 1er Cru les Vasées and Mercurey Vignes du Domaine are included in Louis Max’s extensive Burgundy range.

Visser is collaborating with Louis Max on a consultancy basis.

The Russkaya vodka brand was established by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR in 1962. By the early 1980s it was one of the country’s most popular vodkas, with world record sales of 3.4 billion bottles a year.

The vodka was recently rebranded to introduce a new bottle shape and logo and increased details about its Russian origin. Exports are through the Russian Vodka Distribution Company (RVDC).

Visser described both Louis Max and Russkaya as “full of potential” and ideal for travel retail.
