Casualfood forges ahead with close to +20% sales growth in 2017

GERMANY. Casualfood has reported a near +20% increase in profits in 2017, with net sales reaching €51.5 million (US$64.3 million).

Last year, casualfood opened five new locations, taking its operations to a total of 59 units across 12 different food & beverage concepts in travel retail.

“We are delighted that we were able to forge ahead with our concepts again in 2017 and post sales growth of almost +20%. Additional new outlets are set to open in 2018; things remain exciting,” commented casualfood Managing Partners Stefan Weber and Michael Weigel.

Goodman & Filippo won the 2017 FAB Award for ‘New Food & Beverage Concept of the Year’ in Europe

Italian-American deli concept, Goodman & Filippo opened at Cologne Bonn Airport midway through 2017. Following a successful test-phase the concept was also rolled out at Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport in December, along with a Mondo Bianco bar. The Ljubljana restaurants are casualfood’s first two outlets outside Germany.

Goodman & Filippo was named Europe’s ‘New Food & Beverage Concept of the Year’ at the 2017 FAB Awards in June and recently received the DUS Excellence Award at Düsseldorf Airport.

Casualfood is set to open its next Goodman & Filippo unit at Frankfurt Airport in February 2018. It recently opened a Hermann’s Restaurant and a Quicker’s mobile stand in Frankfurt, and refurbished its Mondo unit. A new Quicker’s opened at Essen Central Railway Station.

Diversity plays a major role at casualfood, which has over 700 employees from 71 nations. At Frankfurt Airport alone, the firm’s workforce brings together 63 nationalities from countries including Nepal, Panama, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Tajikistan.
