Brown-Forman appoints Tim Young to direct Africa operations

USA/AFRICA. Brown-Forman Corporation has appointed Tim Young to the role of Director, Africa. He will be responsible for all of the company’s operations in Sub-Sahara Africa, including South Africa.

Young, who was previously Marketing Director for Brown-Forman’s IMEA CCSA region, will report to Managing Director India, Middle East, Africa, Caribbean, Central & South America (IMEA CCSA) James Perry. He will continue to be based in London.

In his new role, Young will manage a growing team of Brown-Forman and distributor personnel in building the company’s brands across the growing markets of Africa. He will oversee all aspects of the company’s operations across Sub-Sahara Africa including sales, marketing, and partner relationships.

Young, who has spent 15 years working for Brown-Forman, has also served as Country Manager, India and Global Travel Retail Marketing Director.

James Perry said: “Tim’s experience across a wide variety of markets, including overseeing marketing to the diverse global travel retail consumer, will enable him and his team to continue and accelerate our Africa expansion.”

Enrique Gavica will replace Young as IMEA CCSA Marketing Director. Gavica joins from Brown-Forman Mexico, where he was the Marketing Director.

Gavica joined Brown-Forman in 2013 from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where he was the Commercial Director for the Asia Pacific, Japan & Emerging Markets area. He was responsible for the pharmaceutical company’s marketing centre of excellence. He has also held a variety of senior level marketing roles.

Perry commented: “Enrique’s extensive experience across emerging markets will bring increased focus on our activities with consumers across many of our emerging markets.”

Gavica and his family will be relocating from Guadalajara to Louisville in the near future.
