Bristol Airport seeks Retail Development Manager as Kate Gwyther departs

UK. Bristol Airport has modified its retail business and created the new post of Retail Development Manager following the departure this month of Head of Commercial Development Kate Gwyther.

Gwyther, who has joined retail and real estate group Hammerson as Head of Commercialisation, had been with Bristol Airport for 23 years. She spent over 16 years on the commercial side, enhancing the retail and catering offer.

Tom Hack: “Kate’s recent departure left the door open for a slight restructure and to introduce a retail development manager role”

Bristol Airport Head of Commercial Tom Hack told The Moodie Davitt Report: “Kate’s recent departure left the door open for a slight restructure and to introduce a Retail Development Manager role tasked with identifying and implementing our retail and F&B strategy. The role also encompasses our executive lounges.”

Bristol Airport – the eighth busiest in the UK and fourth largest outside London – currently has 12 retail units occupied by global brands and 11 F&B outlets. The gateway to the west of England overtook Glasgow Airport last year by growing passenger traffic +3% to 8.96 million.

Retail, catering, advertising, car parking, property and transportation account for 65% of Bristol Airport’s income. The position of Retail Development Manager will be key to further growing that revenue share by driving through strategic commercial priorities and implementing retail and catering units from concept to store opening.
