“Bring the heat”: HMSHost invites chefs of all abilities to enter airport cooking contest

inner chef posterUSA. Restaurateur HMSHost and the Chicago Department of Aviation have launched this year’s edition of the popular Channel Your Inner Chef cooking competition.

All chefs – whether aspiring, connoisseur, or otherwise – from across the USA are being invited to enter the contest. Finalists will participate in a live cooking showdown at Chicago O’Hare International Airport in March, and the winning dish will be featured on the menu of an HMSHost-operated restaurant at the airport.

“Channel Your Inner Chef is an innovative cooking competition that engages culinary enthusiasts to spotlight their cooking talents in front of a live audience,” said HMSHost Vice President of Marketing Atousa Ghoreichi. “It’s an exciting way to not only showcase our support of culinary talent, but also HMSHost’s ongoing sponsorship of the James Beard Awards.”

To enter, participants must submit a two-minute video of themselves preparing their favourite original recipe, while showcasing their “outgoing personality”. Videos should be uploaded, with a submission form, by 20 February at www.ChannelYourInnerChef.com.

Five finalists will be selected to win a trip to Chicago to compete in the live cook-off in front of an audience and a panel of judges at O’Hare on 21 March.

In the timed cook-off, finalists must create an original recipe using a selection of ingredients available to them at the start of the event.

2016 winner Sepi Naficy’s Paella Bowl dish became an instant traveller favourite on the menu, according to HMSHost, and based on popularity it was extended through the summer travel season.

This year’s winner will also receive two roundtrip airline tickets for a flight within the continental USA and a VIP trip for two to attend the James Beard Awards Gala on 1 May at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Channel Your Inner Chef received a Highly Commended in the Food & Beverage Marketing & Promotions Campaign of the Year category at the FAB 2016 Awards in Geneva.
