Bright outlook for Maui Jim sunglasses as company expands worldwide in travel retail

Hawaiian sunglasses brand Maui Jim has joined forces with retailers including DFS and King Power to showcase its latest frames to shoppers across the globe this year.

A dedicated pop-up shop has opened at the DFS store at Honolulu Airport, which will offer more than 50 polarised frame styles until the end of 2018.

A Honolulu activation in partnership with DFS offered more than 50 Maui Jim styles. Among them were best-sellers including Pokowai Arch, Waihee Ridge and Lava Tube frames.

At King Power Phuket Downtown Duty Free store, brand promoters were on hand to share the Maui Jim PolarizedPlus2 collection with customers.

Maui Jim launched in 23 airports across Europe this summer in partnership with Dufry, at locations in France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey and the UK. The partnership also included a listing on the P&O MV Ventura cruiseship.

Seven new listings, across border stores and airports in locations including Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Turkmenistan, were realised thanks to a partnership with Gebr Heinemann.

The company said its bestselling frames include the Pokowai Arch, Waihee Ridge and Lava Tube.

Maui Jim Global Travel Retail Director Giles Marks said: “[Our] sales managers have worked really hard with their colleagues at DFS, Dufry, Heinemann, King Power [and] other retailers to mount bright and engaging displays.”
