Breaking the ice: Baldessarini previews the launch of Cool Force

Mäurer & Wirtz previewed the new Baldessarini Cool Force fragrance at a launch event in Austria’s Tyrol region on Tuesday, with The Moodie Davitt Report the exclusive travel media representative.

The fragrance comes to travel retail and domestic markets from mid-March. The full Cool Force range will feature the edt in 50ml and 90ml, after shave lotion, shower gel and deodorant stick.

Baldessarini Cool Force maintains the signature masculine intensity of the brand’s previous fragrances with an element of “cool freshness”.

Patchouli, which features in all the Baldessarini fragrances, is blended with top notes of bergamot and cardamom and a heart of water accords, clary sage and neroli.

Perfumer Vincent Schaller noted: “I imagined the fragrance to be fresh and watery. I also wanted Cool Force to be masculine, sensual and warm, since it is a Baldessarini fragrance.”

The Baldessarini fragrance tagline ‘separates the men from the boys’ will remain in place for this latest addition, and is emblazoned across the top of the Cool Force concrete-effect box.

The Cool Force launch party was held at the famous Stanglwirt Hotel outside Salzburg in the shadow of the Wilder Kaiser (or Wild Emperor) mountain. Guests were treated to a dinner of typical Austrian fare (the hotel’s farm produces much of its own food), a preview of “the freshest Baldessarini fragrance to date” (revealed in the suitably bracing mountain air of the hotel grounds) and dancing until the early hours.

Werner Baldessarini, formerly chief designer for Hugo Boss, founded the Baldessarini fashion label in 1993. The licence for the accompanying prestige fragrance line was acquired by Mäurer & Wirtz from Procter & Gamble in 2011.

Baldessarini attended this week’s party along with several German celebrities and Ukrainian former world heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, who is a friend of the company founder.

Mäurer & Wirtz International Sales Director Jan Marcel Katuin described Cool Force as the major development for Baldessarini this year. Mäurer & Wirtz hopes that by launching the fragrance in the first quarter, it will drive a successful year of sales and expansion for the brand, and build on strong sales in Russia, Eastern Europe and Germany.
