Brandwatch: Our choice of the week’s most compelling brand stories

In the sixth edition of our Brandwatch video series, we take a quick look at four of the week’s most interesting stories – from a writing instrument that destroys rifles to a modern Chanel fragrance, a free spirited fashion collection and a new Cointreau bottle.

Kicking off Brandwatch is a modern version of Chanel’s classic N°5 perfume – Chanel N°5 L’Eau. A promotion at Frankfurt Airport, in partnership with Gebr Heinemann and Frankfurt Media, invites travellers to discover the scent via an olfactorium and virtual rain shower.

Next, we spotlight a collection from Spanish fashion house Desigual that ‘dares to be different’. The SS17 collection, inspired by ‘extraordinary’ women, features designs echoed by intrepid explorers who took on jungles – both tropical and urban.

Now our attention turns to a new pen from Cross that has the ability to destroy guns. The Cross Peerless Fonderie 47 Collector’s Edition Rollerball Pen, made from gun steel ingots, marks the brand’s continuing collaboration with Fonderie 47, a company which funds gun destruction in Africa.

The fourth and final featured brand, Cointreau, captures the purity of crystal in a limited-edition bottle which takes inspiration from brand founder Édouard Cointreau’s quest to create the perfect liqueur. The design is claimed to be shaped and cut in the same way that “a fine jeweller would transform a rough diamond”.
