Bowmore launches travel retail exclusive 30yo malt – 22/09/06

UK. Scotland’s Bowmore Distillery unveils its first 30yo single malt whisky created exclusively for travel retail, available next month.

Bowmore’s 30yo Islay single malt Scotch whisky, the distiller’s first travel retail exclusive, will be limited to just 1,800 bottles. Brand Director Glen Moore said: “Travel retail continues to grow as a luxury purchasing environment; customers have time to peruse at their leisure in a relaxed environment. This is an ideal arena in which to present a beautifully crafted exclusive expression of Bowmore of only 1,800 bottles. The only other place you can purchase this limited edition is at the distillery itself.”

The vintage Bowmore single malt is a collector’s must-have, and is said to boast a deep copper colour with a subtle aroma of stewed fruit with hints of tropical fruit and vanilla.

The exclusive edition has an abv of 43% and a RRSP of £299.

Bowmore 30yo is packaged in a silk-lined gift box, and the bottle includes a silk-screen depiction of the Celtic legend of the sea dragon Kranna Dubh. Kranna Dubh is said to have once inhabited the depths of Loch Indaal, the sea loch overlooked by Bowmore Distillery.

About Bowmore Distillery

Bowmore Distillery was established in 1779 and is the oldest on the island of Islay. It employs traditional methods, including malting its own barley, a practice maintained by only a handful of distilleries in Scotland. The sustainable working practices employed at the distillery have seen it formally recognised by the EC as one of the greenest operations in Europe. Bowmore Distillery is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers, a subsidiary of Japanese company Suntory.
