Bollywood buzz: Film stars bring celebrity appeal to Mumbai Duty Free

INDIA. Mumbai Duty Free (MDF) recently welcomed stars from the upcoming Excel Entertainment Bollywood movie, Gully Boy, to its store for a surprise customer event at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.

Actors from the film’s cast, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, met and posed for photographs with shoppers in-store in a special zone created to promote the association between the movie and MDF.

Gully Boy cast stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in-store at the Mumbai Duty Free event.

The zone was inspired by Gully (street)-style, with rugged decor including tin-foiled posters and cut-outs, and drums. A ‘boom box’ and microphone completed the look.

Singh, who is one of India’s highest-profile actors, used the microphone to call out to the crowd witnessing the event, re-enacting his character from the film.

The new in-store promotion gives MDF customers an opportunity to win free movie tickets and several winners will get the chance to meet star members of the movie’s cast.

Flemingo Travel Retail is the operator of MDF. CEO Manishi Sanwal said: “In addition to a quality duty free shopping experience, we take great pride in being a part of associations like these that leave an indelible impact on the minds of our customers.

“In-store Bollywood experiences have now become a tradition and differentiating factor at Mumbai Duty Free, one that is both cherished and celebrated by customers and also appreciated and acknowledged among the travel retail industry.”
