UK/FRANCE. Clarins Group has appointed Scorpio International Holdings as distributors for UK and Irish airlines for the Clarins Fragrances Group, which incorporates the Thierry Mugler, Azzaro and Porsche Design brands.
The news is a major boost to Scorpio’s mission to increase its distribution portfolio selectively with prestige and innovative companies and, in particular, to expand its presence in the perfumes and cosmetics categories.
Clarins Regional Director Travel Retail Europe Nicolas Piquereau, stated: “We are delighted to ask Scorpio to manage our fragrance range for the airlines within the UK and Ireland and already they have announced additional listings for this winter.”
Scorpio Group Business Development Director Alan Edwards commented: “We are honoured to add the Clarins range of fragrances to our carefully selected portfolio of perfumes & cosmetics suppliers. Clarins is a prestigious company that has a number of exciting developments over the next 18 months. These include Naomi Watts becoming the face of Angel, and the launch of Porsche Design “˜The Essence, both of which will certainly raise the profile of the brands once again to the airline customers.”
In September 2007 Gebr Heinemann and Scorpio International announced a partnership in which Gebr Heinemann holds a 51% stake and Scorpio a 49% share. A key part of the alliance’s mission was to grow its perfumes & cosmetics distribution – a traditional Gebr Heinemann strength – in the UK, Scorpio’s geographic stronghold.
The joint company already handles L’Oréal Produits de Luxe International, Elizabeth Arden, Original Additions and L’Occitane in selected UK and Ireland travel retail and duty free sectors. More agreements are understood to be imminent.
