Beirut Duty Free partners back fund-raising drive for victims of tragedy

LEBANON. Beirut Duty Free General Manager Adrian Bradshaw has created a GoFundMe page to support victims of the catastrophic explosion in the port area of the Lebanese capital on 4 August. In an update this afternoon, officials said that at least 157 people had died with around 5,000 injured. The search continues for survivors.

Beirut Duty Free is a partnership between Phoenicia Trading and Aer Rianta International (ARI), with the fund-raising drive backed by the two companies, who encourage further support from partners and friends across the industry.

All donations will go to non-governmental support organisations the Lebanese Red Cross and the Dafa Campaign.

The GoFundMe page notes that the event “comes at a very tough time for the Lebanese people, who are already facing a major economic crisis, with a devaluation of their currency of 80%.

“We need your kind support, to help the Lebanese community as much as you can. Every cent collected will bring significant relief to the people here.”

ARI said in an online statement: “In support of our colleagues in Beirut Duty Free, their friends and families, our partners, and all those who have been impacted by this tragedy, we appreciate any kind support, to help their community via this GoFundMe page.”
