Ballantine’s enters single malt category with new 15yo range

Ballantine’s is making its first foray into the single malt sector, with travel retail the launch platform.

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail has launched a new single malt trio under the Ballantine’s brand, traditionally known for its popular blended Scotch whisky.

Each whisky in the range celebrates the personality and flavours of a different Speyside distillery: Glenburgie, Miltonduff and Glentauchers.

The 15yo whiskies will be available exclusively in select travel retail locations for three months before rolling out to domestic markets globally.

Ballantine’s has long been one of the world’s leading blended whiskies. Its foray into the single malt sector represents an intriguing new departure for the brand

The Glenburgie single malt acts as the heart of Ballantine’s whisky and is said to deliver fruitiness and honeyed sweetness with a velvety texture. The Miltonduff single malt is described as the foundation of Ballantine’s whisky character and brings warmth with a hint of cinnamon spice and liquorice flavours. Glentauchers offers the delicate lingering finish of Ballantine’s with hints of floral heather on the nose and berries and barley sugar on the palate.

Ballantine’s described travel retail as a “pioneering environment” in which to launch the range

Ballantine’s Global Brand Director Mathieu Deslandes commented: “As a pioneering environment, travel retail felt like the natural place to unveil the series before launching globally. We are excited for fans of Ballantine’s to discover the quality of these single malts as they are widely recognised as the heart of Ballantine’s.”
