Bahrain Airport Company launches tender for operation of car rental outlets

BAHRAIN. Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) has issued a tender for the management and operation of car rental outlets at the new Passenger Terminal Building at Bahrain International Airport.

Local, regional, and international companies are invited to participate.

There are 12 units available, with a total area of 130sq m, located in the Arrivals area.

Bahrain Airport Company aims to transform the traveller experience once it opens the new terminal

Successful bidders will propose the “best and most dynamic services, offering the latest concepts and innovative, customer-driven initiatives”, BAC said.

The planned Passenger Terminal Building is being built as part of the US$1.1 billion Airport Modernisation Programme. The terminal is scheduled to open next year.

“Having the right tenants and service providers in place is essential to meet the objectives of the Airport Modernisation Programme and the needs of passengers travelling through [the airport],” commented BAC Chief Commercial Officer Ayman Zainal.

“The car rental concession will play an important role by providing business and leisure visitors with a wide range of convenient and cost-effective ways to reach their final destination once they land in Bahrain.

“The new Passenger Terminal Building will increase the airport’s throughput capacity from 8.5 to 14 million passengers a year, which gives car rental companies operating on-site the opportunity to reach a greater number of potential customers.”

The deadline for submissions is 27 June 2018. All submissions that meet the criteria will undergo a technical and financial evaluation process to select the best proposals.
